The Level 3 AET Course from Open Learning Academy is the basic course needed to start any teaching career in the adult education sector. This course acts as the foundation for any teaching roles you are looking to pursue. The Level 3 Teaching Qualification is completely online, so you can enrol and complete it at your own pace.
However, there is a 12-month deadline, before which you must complete and submit your assignments. There are approximately 48 hours of study time and a completion time of around 120 hours. So, you can divide up your hours however you want within these 12 months.

PTLLS Course or AET Course?
This award was formerly known as the Preparing To Teach in The Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). But it has since been renamed to the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET). However, many are still used to the old name and prefer to use that instead. The Level 3 AET can also be followed up with the Level 4 CET and Level 5 DET.
Who is the AET course for?
This course is for prospective educators, trainers, and anybody looking to improve their teaching abilities. Moreover, this course is for you if you want to have a good effect on others through education. So, whether you want to change careers or improve your existing ones, the Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a great place to start.
Duration
You will be given 4 months to complete the coursework or Assignment. But it is suggested to do the microtech within 4 weeks. We have tutor who will assist you through live Zoom class to do your microtech. If you finish earlier, your certificate will be awarded early as long as you meet the required standard, you do not need to wait for 16 weeks.
Assessment Method
In order to be eligible for the certification, you need to complete the following assessments.
- Three written assignments
- One microteaching session 60 minutes (Which can be submitted as a recorded video)
All assignments should be submitted via the online portal with full tutor support.
COURSE DETAILS
The Level 3 AET takes an estimated 48 hours of study time before you can finish your assignments and proceed to the assessment phase.
The AET award has a deadline of 12 months. You must complete your assignment and attend the microteaching session within these 12 months. Otherwise, your registration will be nullified, and you will have to re-register.

LEVEL 3 PTLLS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are two methods of assessment in this course. First, you will submit assignments on each of the sections in the course. Afterwards, you will attend a Zoom meeting, where you will teach other students live in front of an assessor.
With our course, you don’t have to record a microteach session with a peer. Instead, we will provide you with other learners, who will all teach each other as a test.
Don’t worry! If you end up referring to an assessment, you will get a second chance, where you will receive proper feedback. Moreover, you can use this feedback to correct your mistakes and resubmit your work.
